Chequing fees and card rates publish cleanly. Mortgage and line of credit values are already loaded in the page and are ready to resolve into text.
National Bank posts an Agent Readiness Score of 58 out of 100 in the AI Compass Canada July 2026 Index. The score splits into Technical Readiness at 33/50 and Content Architecture at 25/50. Chequing, cards and insurance publish price and eligibility as text with full footnotes. Mortgage and line of credit rates carry the correct figures inside the page payload and are ready to render as readable numbers.
English is served by default with no language gate. A request sending a French preference returns the same English page, and the robots file carries a single wildcard group with twelve narrow rules, no AI crawler named and two sitemaps declared. Retrieval is clean throughout, with no cookie wall, no province selector and clean status codes.
Three surfaces answer well. The Connected chequing account serves “$15.95” monthly, “0-24 years old $0”, “60 plus $10.95”, “$0 fixed monthly fees with a balance of $4,500 or more” and “$30 cashback”, with every placeholder resolved. The Platinum Mastercard serves “20.99%” on purchases, “22.49%” on balance transfers and cash advances, a “$70” annual fee, and answers the eligibility question directly with “No minimum annual income required”.
Disclosures travel well. The chequing page carries 11 numbered footnotes plus a promotional conditions section, the Platinum page carries footnotes 1 through 12, and mortgage insurance states eligibility plainly with age bands and coverage maximums.
The rate pages show the values sitting one layer beneath the surface. The mortgage table renders a template expression where the number belongs, while the underlying blob holds “tauxPromo5ansF”:“4,84”. The line of credit does the same, holding “taux”:“11.450”. The card comparison hub serves “${p2.nomProduit}”, so one rendering pass brings product names and figures into readable text together.
Six sub-categories were reviewed on the nbc.ca root. One flagship product was selected for each, matching the product National Bank features first. Each surface was read from the server response, without a browser session.
The robots file places no restriction on AI crawlers. One group only, “User-agent: *”, with twelve narrow rules covering search results and form fragments, no named AI agent, no crawl delay, and two sitemaps declared.
The chequing page publishes complete pricing as text. It serves “$15.95” monthly, “0-24 years old $0”, “60 plus $10.95”, “$0 fixed monthly fees with a balance of $4,500 or more” and “$30 cashback”, with every placeholder resolved.
Credit card interest rates arrive as numbers. The Platinum page serves “20.99%” for purchases, “22.49%” for balance transfers and cash advances, “$70” annual fee, and “No minimum annual income required. Subject to National Bank credit approval.”
Disclosures and eligibility travel with the page. The chequing page carries 11 numbered footnotes, the Platinum page carries 12, and mortgage insurance states “Must be between 18- and 64-years old” and “Coverage provided for critical illnesses up to a maximum of $150,000”.
Every mortgage rate is ready to resolve. The served text carries the template expression “${p1.tauxPromo5ansF|percent:"true"}” where the figure belongs, while the underlying blob holds “tauxPromo5ansF”:“4,84” and “taux1anO”:“9.650”. The values are already in the page.
The line of credit rate follows the same path. The visible text reads “P + ${p1.ecart|percent:"true"} = ${p1.taux|percent:"true"}”, while the blob holds “taux”:“11.450” and “tauxBase”:“4.450”.
FAQ content is ready to render as text on all six surfaces. The chequing page links to accordion targets today, so moving that question and answer text into the served HTML makes it readable without JavaScript.
Credit card specification fields are ready for their values. The Platinum page renders template variables where the annual fee, minimum age and legal status belong, and the comparison hub serves “${p2.nomProduit}” and “${p3.revenuAnnuel}”.
The encouraging read: fee and card publishing already meets the standard, and the rate layer follows the same pattern with the values already loaded.
The numbers are already inside the page. One rendering pass turns National Bank template code into published values.
National Bank sits in the middle of the Canadian field. Its technical score is the third highest among the banks, which places the whole opportunity in one rendering layer. Scores shown are the nearest neighbours in the July 2026 Canadian field.
Every Agent Readiness Score splits into Technical Readiness and Content Architecture. The two halves point to different teams and different timelines.
Sequencing, effort estimates and the surface-by-surface build order sit in the full engagement plan. Item one carries the largest share of the available lift.
The values already exist in the page payload. Resolving these placeholders into the HTML before it is served lifts the mortgage surface a band on its own.
Resolve the age, legal status and income variables so they read as text, and add a genuine HTML comparison table across Platinum, mycredit and World Elite.
Move the accordion content into the served HTML so questions and answers are readable without JavaScript, covering how to avoid the monthly fee and what income is required.
Publish one line per product page with a real summary rather than a repeated tagline. The sitemaps already declared in robots.txt give a ready starting list.
The direction of travel favours National Bank. Fee and card publishing already meets the standard, and the rate layer follows the same pattern.
National Bank is one rendering pass away from a materially different score. The content is written and the values are already loaded.
AI Compass measures what an AI agent receives when it visits a financial institution website on a customer’s behalf. It reads the served response the way an agent does, without a browser session, without scripts, and without a human clicking to reveal a value.
Each product surface earns a score out of 100, built from Technical Readiness out of 50 and Content Architecture out of 50. The institution score is the average across the surfaces reviewed, up to seven.
Sub-categories come from the personal banking navigation on each brand’s Canadian root. Within each one, the flagship is the product the institution itself features first. Brands with fewer product lines are scored on the surfaces they actually sell, so a focused brand is measured on quality rather than on breadth.
Pages were read on 30 July 2026. Rates, bonus offers and terms move, and scores describe what each site served on that date. Where a site offers more than one language, the version served by default to a request with no language preference was used.
Scores come from observed page behaviour alone. No institution reviews or approves a score before publication, and every brand is measured against the same rubric. Outlier results are verified against a second independent retrieval pass before publication.
The score covers the public marketing site. Logged-in banking, the mobile app and the branch experience sit outside it. A site can score well here and still have work to do inside the login, and the reverse holds too.
National Bank of Canada carries an AI Compass Agent Readiness Score of 58 out of 100 in the July 2026 Canada Index. That is the sum of Technical Readiness (33/50) and Content Architecture (25/50), scored across 6 product surfaces and read from the server response on 30 July 2026.
Each product surface earns a score out of 100, built from Technical Readiness out of 50 and Content Architecture out of 50. Technical Readiness covers crawler permission, machine-readable discovery, server-side completeness, retrievability and disclosure availability. Content Architecture covers price in text, eligibility in text, comparison structure, question coverage and plain answers. The institution score is the average across the surfaces reviewed. National Bank sits at 33 on Technical Readiness and 25 on Content Architecture.
The strongest surface is Bank accounts at 67, with Savings and investments at 64 behind it. The next points sit on rendering the mortgage and line of credit values that already travel in the page payload, and on publishing FAQ answers as served text.
